Online Advertisement vs. Offline Advertisement
This is always a controversial issue whether you should spend your hard earn cash on offline marketing campaign or on online marketing campaign. It depends on few things. There is not straight answer for the question “which medium should i pick to promote my website or blog?” A mixture of boh is the best idea depending on your brand and products or services you are willing to market.
Recently we all notice that one of the famous blog (i do not want to mention the blogger name but if you are a blog reader, you should know by now who am i referring to.) lost it’s #1 ranking for quite few keywords in Google. But the blogger did not give up, rather he is struggling hard to advertise his name and brand in offline medias. It is of course a very good decision. In fact, all the webmasters should focus on both offline and online medium campaign. BUT, it became really ridiculous when “the blogger” announced his boycott against search giant Google. He is even trying to convince his blog readers that Google is no big of a deal. A blog or website do not need to get ranked in Google to get web traffic. They can always think Google as optional. Many other bloggers already posted their own opinions at their personal blog against this problogger policy.
Lets put it this way, if you live in the water, you cannot avoid the existence of shark. This blogger lost his ranking because he picked the wrong way to get higher rank in Google. The penalty would be the same for anyone, it does not matter if it has a higher PR or it is a multi-million dollars company like BMW. No offense but this blogger does not understand that if Google wasn’t there he would not be in any magazine’s or newspaper’s cover page neither he would be on TV.
So, in conclusion, if you predict that you got penalize by major search engine like Google, please do not try to fight with them especially if your business or services are largely depend on internet (if you are a brick-motor company and sell physical products, it might be okay for you). It will only harm you not Google. Send them an immediate fax or telex by mentioning your search engine exclusion or ranking problem. Make sure the statement looks professional. Google will respond to your inquiry and you can fix you problem accordingly. This is not the first time a major website got penalized by Google. I have seen many real examples like this and all of them got their rank back including the re-inclusion of their indexed pages but fighting back against Google is the first time for me.
